In light of current events, we thought it prudent to review our demographic data to better understand the representation of African Americans among Delaware's homeless population compared to their representation among Delaware's general population. We then took this data and drew a comparison to Caucasians in the State to highlight the drastic over representation of African Americans among Delaware's homeless population.

United Way of Delaware has awarded us $5,000 to bolster our technological capabilities. The awarded funds will ensure our programs are able to excel in our new environment. An effective staff equipped with all the tools necessary to perform at a high level while social distancing will ensure we are able to serve any family experiencing homelessness in need of our services.

"As evictions increase nationwide, more attention has focused on equity concerns and protections for tenants in the court eviction process.


Eviction rates are particularly high in Delaware. The Princeton Eviction Lab estimates the state’s eviction rate (evictions per renter household) to be 5.1%, about 2 points higher than the national average, and the state’s annual eviction filing rate (eviction filings per renter household) to be 16%. On an average day, 14 evictions are filed in Delaware courts".
