Each year in the United States, 2.5 million children experience homelessness.

But many kids experiencing homelessness are not eligible for the services they need because they are not counted under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) definition of homelessness.

In this new video, Family Promise National CEO, Claas Ehlers, and Chief Impact Officer, Cara Bradshaw, break down the issue, why the current definition HUD uses is misleading, and how you can help.

On Monday, February 19th, 4 people were found deceased inside a tent they were using for shelter. These four individuals were homeless, living in the woods, with nowhere to go. These four deaths are a tragedy, and a reminder of the cruel realities associated with homelessness.

This tragedy highlights why the work Family Promise NNCC does, and your support to make it happen, is needed in our communities. No child deserves to spend a night out in the cold.

This past month a very generous couple was thinking about what to do with their vehicle. Their kids were grown and off at college and they didn't have much use for a third vehicle. Rather than sell or trade in the vehicle, this couple decided their car should be put to good use. They donated their vehicle to Family Promise.

Two weeks ago, we transferred their vehicle to Sherman. Sherman graduated from our Hospitality Network last May. Since exiting our program, Sherman has done great, maintaining his housing and employment.

The generous couple wanted their vehicle to be put to good use, and it will. Sherman plans on using the vehicle to get to work, appointments and picking his children up from school.

Sherman is pictured with his wonderful Case Manager Felicia. Stay tuned to hear Sherman's story.
