Family Promise’s fundraising 5K Run & Walk to prevent & end family homelessness in Delaware

This is our 2nd 5K Run & Walk fundraising event, and together with University of Delaware’s sorority Alpha Xi Delta to help make this an amazing day of fun and to bring awareness to ending homelessness. This is a, fun, family friendly event! Registration is $30.00  which will help cover the cost of bedding for a child in our program.

The Family Promise 5K takes place at the Green at the University of Delaware. The 5K consists of three laps around the Green, that adds up to 5K. This means that you can join us for all three laps and walk a full 5K, or you could do 2 laps and walk about 3k or do a single lap and walk about 1.6k.The beauty of this, is that you can support Family Promise, by walking the amount that best suits you!

The Family Promise Match

Thanks to the cumulative efforts of a few large donors, including members of our board, all 5K fundraising teams have access to the following match. If your team accomplishes the following:

• 5 registered walk members

• Cumulative donations of $500

Your team will receive a donation of an additional $500 from our match fund (funded by a few large donors in our network)

If you know any business, person, group, or organization that would be willing to sponsor the event, please send their information our way, or see below for sponsorship information.

 

If you’re unable to participate for any reason, but still want to support Family Promise, you can simply donate as well.

Where & When is Family Promise's 5K?

When: Sunday, April 14, 2024.

​

Where: The walk is located at The Green (University of Delaware, Newark, DE).

​

Time: 5k begins at 12 PM. Registration and Check-In will begin at 11:00 AM.

How do I become a Team Captain?

Thank you for your support!! Becoming a team captain is quick and easy! Anyone who would like to be a Team Captain, please reach out to Blaine, our Development & Marketing Manager at blaine@familypromisede.org or 302-998-2222 ext. 105. Blaine will walk you through the quick and easy steps to becoming a team captain.

Team captains are responsible for creating teams. Captains recruit friends, family, neighbors or anyone looking to support a good cause. Click here to download our Team Captain Packet! Why Donate?

All funds raised will be used to assist families experiencing homelessness move into permanent housing. Your donation will help us secure an apartment for a family! As you know, the pandemic has exacerbated an affordable housing crisis while simultaneously weakening the job market, placing many of Delaware's families in precarious financial situations. Consequently, the demand for shelter and case management services for families experiencing homelessness has never been higher. Your donation will help us house families experiencing homelessness in our shelters, in our community, and families currently sheltering at the Hope Center.

The Family Promise Raffle

This year’s Family Promise 5K will have a raffle! Raffle prizes include gift cards to local businesses, prize baskets, Family Promise swag, tickets to local events, and much more!

 

If you donate $100, you will receive a single raffle ticket. After donating $100, you will receive an additional raffle ticket for every $50 donated.
